Metaphysical Properties

Silky malachite, also known as fibrous malachite or velvet malachite, is one the most unique, rare, and beautiful crystalline forms of malachite. Crystal needles are artfully displayed as radiating sprays which overlap and criss-cross each other, in gorgeous, chatoyant (shimmering) hues of dark to light green. The very fine aggregates of velvety malachite needles start from any number of centers on each surface.

Malachite is believed to be a strong protector of children. It is said to protect the wearer from accidents and protects travelers. Malachite has been used to aid success in business and protect against undesirable business associations. It is a stone of balance in relationships.

Malachite is said to be a powerful emotional cleanser helping to remove past traumas, and negative emotions, to bring harmony into your life. Its use should be limited to small doses as its deep energetic cleansing may be uncomfortable for some.

Malachite is a powerful amplifying stone that amplifies both positive and negative energies. For this reason it is a stone to use only when you are feeling positive as it can increase negative feelings. Because Malachite absorbs negativity it should be cleansed after each healing session. A good way to do this is to place it on clear quartz in the sun; cleansing Malachite with water can wear away its surface.

In healing Malachite is believed to lower blood pressure and to help detoxify the liver. The copper content in Malachite is said to ease rheumatism and arthritis. Malachite is also said to ease cramps, including menstrual cramps and to facilitate childbirth. Please note Malachite dust is toxic and that Malachite should only be used in its polished form.
